Homestead B&B Bed & Breakfast accommodation in Addo Eastern Cape

Description

Addo, in South Africa's malaria-free Eastern Cape, is renowned for the Addo Elephant National Park. Only minutes away lies Homestead B&B in a lush, oasis-like garden, offering a variety of accommodation from bed and breakfast, self catering, caravan and camping to backpackers.

All the accommodation is of the finest and is reasonably priced, children are welcome and there is ample parking.

Homestead B&B is very convenient for the major attractions of the area.

The prime attraction is, of course, the Addo Elephant National Park. This large and rapidly growing park which will ultimately also include a marine reserve, is home to the thriving herd of Addo elephants. This herd is a sub-specie of the African elephant.

The park is also home to the remainder of the "Big Five" as well as numerous other species right down to the flightless dung beetle. This humble denizen, in addition to its essential role in the local ecology, is unique to the Addo area.

 Accommodation

Homestead B&B offers a plentiful variety of accommodation. All accommodation is equipped with at least tea/coffee making facilities, ceiling fans, hair driers, fridge and braai (BBQ).  Three of our rooms are air-conditioned.

There are five bed and breakfast rooms, each sleeping two. All are en-suite, are equipped with kitchenettes and have their own private entrances into the garden.

For families there is a bed and breakfast unit with two bedrooms (one double and one twin), with one en-suite shower and a bathroom. There is also a kitchenette and a private patio onto the garden.

For guests who so wish, there are five self-catering units. These are likewise fully equipped to the same standard.

Our guests eat in a beautifully decorated and furnished dining room and can relax in our guest lounge.

For cooling off after a hot day's game viewing, guests are welcome to make use of the splash pool.

Guests should really take time to enjoy the peace and quiet of the lovely garden or feel free to walk around our farm which is one of the oldest citrus farms in the Sundays River Valley.  The original dwelling with its four rooms (horse stable, sitting room, bedroom and kitchen) still exists.  It is now  a nice en-suite backpacker or self-catering room.

The jacaranda and palm tree in front of the house are estimated to be 80 years old.  The garden is so beautiful and relaxing that it is tempting to just sit in it and drink in the peace and quiet.

The bird life here is also well worth watching.

 Camping

Our park-like grounds have fifteen stands for camping or for caravans. There is a clean ablution block and braai (BBQ) facilities.

We also have two caravans, fully equipped and available for hire, tucked away in their own little corners of the garden.

Guests should really take time to enjoy the peace and quiet of the lovely garden or feel free to walk around our farm.

Some of our guests have actually spent their first day here doing nothing but sitting on their patios or in the garden, reading or just drinking in the relaxing atmosphere.  This is an excellent way to unwind from the stresses of city life or long-distance travelling before going off to see the sights.

The bird life here is also well worth watching.
